Classes & Workshops

Check out our current and upcoming dance classes listed below. Students taking any weekday class can attend our Weekly Tuesday Open Dance for FREE.

What class should I take?
Beginning Swing is different every month.  You will learn swing dance footwork, rhythms and partner connection, and we will build your dance skills throughout the month.  We encourage people to take these classes for 1-6 months.
Other classes expect you to be familiar with the skills learned in Beginning Swing.  If you are not sure if you are ready for a class, check in with the instructor or email us to ask.  Our other classes include a rotation of Lindy 1, Lindy 2, and Special Topics (like Charleston, Collegiate Shag or Solo Jazz)

This four-week series focuses on the signature moves of Lindy Hop - the swing out and circle!  We'll get comfortable with 8 count footwork and learn the connection and momentum that make swing outs exhilarating.  Whether you've worked on swing outs before or they're brand new for you, this class will help you hone your skills. We highly recommend dancers take this class several times to build a strong lindy hop foundation. Or if you’ve been dancing for years, this a great opportunity for a tune up!

Prerequisite: 2-5 months of beginning swing, or instructor approval. You should be comfortable with the triple step, the basics of swing partner connection, and common moves like an underarm pass or tuck turn.  Unsure you're ready? Just ask a Vermont Swings instructor at any upcoming event.

Let's get you out on the dance floor!

In this class you'll learn the basics of swing dancing. You'll get moving to big band and swing music, learn how to communicate through lead and follow connection and get lots of practice with 6 count footwork. This class is great for beginning level swing students with any amount of experience (or no experience). We'll make sure to do something a bit different than last month so there will be something new for repeating students too!

This course will focus on taking movements you've likely already learned (six count basic, tuck turn, pass, swing out, lindy circle, and maybe some others) and exploring how to incorporate different, possibly new, solo Jazz movements and rhythms into your leading and following. Luc and Olya are hoping that students have taken Lindy 1 at least once and feel comfortable with doing at least 6 and 8 count rhythms.
