Musicality - TWYDITWTYDI!

TWYDITWTYDI: T'aint What You Do, Its The Way That You Do It!
So you have the basics of swing dancing down, you can pull off a bunch of moves, and have good connection with your partners. But you feel there's still something missing in your dance, something you see in experienced dancers that makes you go "Wow - I want to dance like that!".  Most likely, that magic is MUSICALITY - dancing with the music and not just to the beat.

Join Jean Elizabeth in this one-time lesson as we scratch the surface of musicality, and explore concepts in rhythm, expression, body isolation, and the feel of music.  This class is appropriate for beginner to advanced dancers.

    No partner necessary.

Pre-requisite:  Confidence in 6 or 8-count swing footwork and partner connection.

    Cost: $10/class

Bring a change of clean, non-marking shoes.

Let us know you're coming and pre-register in the Sign Me Up box.

Beginner East Coast Swing
Tuesdays  Sep 4 - Sep 25
6:30pm - 7:30pm
  • Click Here For Class Description

East Coast Swing has its roots in Lindy Hop, but the basic step is 6-counts, rather than 8-counts.  Professional dance schools of the 1930-40s felt this 6-count version of swing was more accessible to the masses of people wanting to get out and dance to the big bands, and its popularity continued with 1950s rock-n-roll.  East Coast swing is a great place to start if you've never partner danced before.

Jean Elizabeth will guide you through this 4-week series that covers the basics. You will gain confidence in the basic footwork and rhythm of this dance, and learn about frame and partner connection, all within a variety of fun moves and figures.

Cost: $10/$8 students for each class or $40/$32 for the 4-week series, FREE entry into the Practice Session. Repeat students $5 per class!

Prerequsites: No previous dance experience required; these classes are suitable for dancers of all levels.

    No partner necessary.

Please bring a change of clean, soft-soled, non-marking shoes to protect your knees and our wooden dance floor.
