If you want to try your skill as a DJ here is how:
Contact Cate (our DJ coordinator) and decide when you want to DJ.
Here are some guidelines to help you decide what to play

The first hour (6:30-7:30) should be geared toward slower music with most songs between (approx.) 110 and 135 beats per minute, with several songs at a moderate speed (135–155 bpm) and only a couple of faster songs.

The second hour can be faster: most songs in the moderate range (135-155 bpm), a handful of moderately fast songs (155-180 bpm), a couple in the fast range (above 180), and a handful of slow songs (110 to 135 bpm).

It’s most appealing to dancers to have the speed vary a bit from song to song; not several in a row at the same speed – especially when it comes to fast songs. Some dancers dislike an extreme jump in tempo (e.g. 200 bpm to 115 bpm, or vice versa).

Most songs should be swing music, i.e. from the swing era (30’s & 40’s) or modern swing music. Other varieties of music, such as country, rock and roll, rockabilly, hip hop, etc. that the DJ considers “swing-able” should be kept to a minimum: 1 or 2 per hour. (What’s “swing-able” in other genres is very subjective.)

Most songs should be less than 4 minutes long (ideally 2.5-3.5 minutes). Longer songs should be limited to 1 or 2 per hour. Note: songs that are very fast AND very long are deadly.
